April Newsletter Happy Spring!!! To all of the families who participated in the Performance Fundraiser – Thank you! If you have backordered items, they should be in within 4 weeks. Please let me know if you don’t want to wait and we can cancel the order. For the students who didn’t participate, if you haven’t paid the $25.00 performance fee (per student), please pay it as soon as possible. Once again, thank you for your support of our upcoming performance on June 12th.
April School Vacation: The studio will be closed April 19th-23rd. HAVE FUN! Some classes will have snow day make-ups this week but these classes will be notified by their instructors.
Performance tickets: Tickets will go on sale in the beginning of May. Tickets will be available at an “Early Bird” price of $15.00 from May 3rd to the 6th. Tickets purchased from May7th -June 10th will be $18.00 and tickets purchased at the door will be $20.00. Once again we will offer prize incentives for ticket sales. This information will be given to students with the May newsletter.
KIDS ZUMBA: We are so excited to announce that we’ll be running a 5 week session from Saturday April 3rd – Saturday May 1st! Ages 4- 14, classes will be from 10:00-10:45 AM. $25 for the session. For more information or to sign-up, please email Ashley at ashleysattler@yahoo.com.
Picture Day: As of right now picture day is scheduled for Saturday, May 22nd if all costumes come in on time. If not, pictures will be taken on Saturday, June 5th.
Volunteers: The only way a “the show can go on” is with the help of volunteers. Each year a small number of Moms, Dads, older siblings and friends come to help out and I can’t tell you how much you’re needed & appreciated. We need people to supervise the dressing rooms, bring the students to the stage to perform, collect tickets, work the doors and help backstage. Also, volunteers are allowed to go to their seats to watch their child perform as long as someone covers your duties. Please consider volunteering at one of the shows. Each volunteer receives a free ticket to the show and undying gratitude from us! Watch for the volunteer sign up sheet which will be posted within the next few weeks.
CALLING ALL DADS!! (Brothers, husbands and boyfriends are welcome too!) For the first time, we will have a special moment in the show just for you to shine! If you know someone interested in participating in this comical dance, please tell Darlene or email Ashley at ashleysattler@yahoo.com. Rehearsals will begin at the end of April on Monday evenings!
Summer Dance Troupe: We will be posting a signup sheet for anyone interested in learning a solo or doing a duet or trio with friends. Troupe students will perform at our annual “WISHES” & “Dancing for a Cure” Benefits. Please sign up as soon as possible as space is limited.

Spring is just around the corner and before you know it, it will be time for Technique’s Performance Showcase! We would like to remind everyone that the dress rehearsal will be on Friday, June 11th and the performance showcase will be on Saturday, June 12th at 4:00 pm.
DANCING FOR A CURE: Our 4th annual benefit for breast cancer research “Dancing for A Cure” on Wednesday, February 17th was a tremendous success! We grossed over $1,200 for the American Cancer Society and all of the performers were outstanding! Ashley & I would like to thank everyone who volunteered to make the event possible. Special thanks to Michelle Rondeau & Maureen Nugent for manning the tables, all of the girls who volunteered (you know who you are!), and all of the families who donated raffle prizes! It was a special night- thanks to everyone!
Kids Zumba: Come and see what all the excitement is about! Dance, laugh, sweat and join the ZUMBA party! One time only trial class with Technique's Zumba Instructors! Performance Fundraiser: Packets are now available and may be picked up at the studio. Fundraiser orders are due by March 5th. and must be accompanied by ONE check for payment in full, made payable to Technique Studios. If you don’t want to participate in the fundraiser, performance fees of $25.00 per student are due with your March tuition. If you already paid for March, please submit a separate payment to cover your child’s performance fee. Fundraiser orders will be available for pickup at the studio beginning Monday, March 15th. Thanks to all for supporting our annual performance!!
Opening Number Auditions: We will be holding an audition to pick the cast for “The GAGA Effect” on Saturday March 6th at 11:00 AM. It is going to be funky, fun and FIERCE! Please sign-up in advance if you would like to audition. If you are unable to attend this audition date, please see Ashley about arranging another time. Everyone ages 8 and over are welcome, so we hope to see a few MOMS who would like to have some fun! The fee for this audition is $5.00.
Class Attendance: Students - please make every effort to attend your weekly classes. Absences are understandable if your child is ill, however - if it’s a cold, a minor injury or just fatigue, please have them attend and watch the class so they can know what’s going on.
New York City Bus Trip: We’ve posted an interest sheet for those who would like to join us for classes at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. The two dates are Saturday, April 17th or Wednesday, April 21st during school vacation. We will choose the date that gets the most interest. If you can go either date then please put your name on both lists. The bus will be open to anyone who would like to go to New York for the day!

Happy Valentine's Day! "Dancing For A Cure" Breast Cancer Research Benefit: Technique will be holding their 4th annual performance to benefit Breast Cancer Research on Wednesday, February 17th at 6:00 PM at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts High School Theater. Tickets are on sale at the studio for $5.00 with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society. There will also be a raffle for some great prizes donated by the dancer's families and local businesses. We are currently accepting prize donations for the raffle so if you would like to donate a prize or make a monetary donation, please see Darlene or Ashley. All donations will be recognized in our performance program. Please come to support our dancers and their efforts to help find a cure for breast cancer!

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday break! We would also like to thank all of you for the beautiful gifts and holiday wishes. There are so many of you to thank so we thought this would be the best way: “The gifts, hugs and wishes were so wonderful and your thoughtfulness is appreciated more than you know. THANK YOU!”
WISHES: Technique’s First Annual Holiday Benefit for the Make*A*Wish Foundation was a huge success and together we raised $1,536! Thank you to all of the performers and friends and families who supported this event! Music & Costumes: Music & costumes have been chosen! You should have received an account statement in class showing your balance due. All costumes should have been paid in full by Dec. 23rd. If you haven’t paid your costume balance, you need to bring it in immediately! PLEASE NOTE: COSTUMES WILL NOT BE ORDERED UNLESS THEY ARE PAID IN FULL. If payment is not received by the 7th, you will be required to pay a $20.00 additional charge per costume to have them ordered and shipped separately.
Martin Luther King Day: The studio WILL be open on Monday, January 18th and classes will be held according to their regular schedule.
Winter Weather Cancellations: If it’s snowing or there’s a prediction of snow or ice, please call the studio voicemail at 539-9996 to hear a pre-recorded message stating if classes are cancelled.
Newsletters: We are making an effort to save paper, time and money by emailing the monthly newsletter to students and parents. If you would like to receive this email, please send your email address to Ashley at ashleysattler@yahoo.com. The newsletter will also be posted on the website as well: www.techniquedance.com. As of February, we will no longer be handing out paper newsletters unless requested. Thank you for your cooperation!
Lost & Found: We have had several articles of clothing left at the studio in the past few months and would like to remind everyone to check our lost and found if you can’t seem to find your jacket! They are located on both floors in the waiting rooms. Yours In Dance, Darlene, Ashley, Christy, Abby, Loryn & Sara December Newsletter We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with their families and we wish you the best during the upcoming hectic holiday season! Technique’s Performance Showcase: Please note that our 13th annual Performance Showcase will be held on June 11th and 12th at Mount Holyoke’s Chapin Auditorium. June 11th will be our dress rehearsal and there will be one matinee show at 3:00 on Saturday the 12th. Please let me know immediately if you have any conflicts with the performance date. Music and Costumes: We expect to show music selections and costume pictures to classes beginning on Monday the 14th. All students will be given costume balance notices which will list the total for costumes less deposits and any fundraiser credits you’ve earned. Costume balances must be received by Tuesday, December 23rd so that we can order costumes over the Christmas break. No costume will be ordered if there’s a balance due and if costumes have to be ordered separately at a later date then you will have to pay additional shipping charges. Parents: please try to come in the studio for your child’s class the week of December 14th so you can see the costume pictures and receive your costume balance notice. Thank You! Tuition reminder! This is just a friendly reminder that tuition payments must be received by the 1st of the month. Our policy includes a grace period until the 5th but after that your account will be charged a $5.00 late fee and if payments are still outstanding after the 15th then the fee will increase to $10.00. Please take note that these fees are still added to your account and must be paid before your child can receive their costume and perform in our showcase. Holiday Parties: Each class will have a party during the last 15 minutes of class starting on Wednesday, December 16th. We ask that each student bring in a snack to share with the class such as baked goods, chips, popcorn, candy, etc. I will provide beverages, paper goods and candy canes.
Holiday Vacation: The studio will close after classes on Tuesday, December 22nd and will re-open on Monday, January 4th. Class cancellations: With bad weather just around the corner, class cancellations are unavoidable. Even if it doesn’t look that bad, we will cancel classes if the roads are even the slightest bit icy. We have students & instructors that have to travel quite a distance to come to class and their safety is our main concern. Any classes that are cancelled due to weather conditions WILL be made up. Make up classes are usually held during a school vacation week or time will be added to classes. Also, class cancellations will be announced on the studio voicemail (539-9996) after 2:00 on the day in question. Channel 40 will no longer list business cancellations on air but they will list them on their website at WGGB.com. Please note: Individual phone calls will not be made so make sure to check before coming to class. Technique clothing: This will be the final reminder to those who are interested in Technique clothing. Please see Darlene by Thursday, December 3rd if you would like to place an order. Newsletter We hope that everyone has a happy, fun & safe Halloween! I’d like to take this opportunity to pass on some important studio information. Costume fundraiser - If you signed up for fundraiser packets - they are now available. For those of you who didn’t sign up but would like to participate, I do have a few extra packets, so see me during class to pick one up. Fundraiser packets with payments are due back by Wednesday, November 11th and products will be available for pick up starting Wednesday, November 18th. “WISHES”: Technique’s First Annual Holiday Benefit for the Make*A*Wish Foundation. Come and support your fellow dancers and the community. There will be two performances held at PVPA in South Hadley on Saturday December 5th: 3:00 pm and 6:30pm. Tickets are $10.00. 100% of proceeds donated to the Make*A*Wish Foundation. Help make a difference! New York City Trip - Sunday, November 22nd. I have chartered a bus for NYC which will leave Technique at 6:00 am. Everyone will be on their own to sightsee, shop or see a show - everyone is welcome, so tell all your friends! The bus will leave NYC at approx 6:00 pm with an estimated arrival back in South Hadley at 9:00 pm. The cost is $40 for roundtrip transportation and payments must be received by Wednesday, November 11th. Please sign the sheet on the bulletin board if interested. Tuition reminder! Tuition is due by November 1st! Payments must be received no later than Wednesday, November 4th to avoid late fees being applied to your account. Late fees that aren’t included with a late payment will be applied to your account and will accumulate until they are paid. These fees will have to be paid in order to receive costumes in the spring, so please be timely with your tuition payments. If circumstances prevent you from paying on time, please speak with Darlene to make special arrangements. Thank you for your cooperation! Costume deposits - $20.00 deposits per costume are now OVERDUE! Please remit by Thursday, October 29th. Technique Clothing: Pictures of Technique merchandise that will be available to order will be posted on November 3rd.. Orders will be due by November 20th and merchandise will be available for Christmas. Music & Costumes: We are currently in the process of choosing music & costumes for over 30 classes. We ask that you please be patient, as this is not an easy task. Music will be chosen this month and costume pictures will be posted by mid December. Thanksgiving break - The studio will close for Thanksgiving after classes on Wednesday, November 25th and will reopen on Monday, November 30th. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ October Newsletter We would like to say thank you to everyone for their patience and understanding during the first few weeks as we make sure all students are placed in the appropriate classes. This process is almost complete and we do appreciate your kind cooperation with any minor changes that still may occur.Welcome newsletters were handed out during the first week of classes and the signed second sheet must be returned to your instructor. If you didn’t receive one, please ask for a copy. Tuition: For all of our new students that aren’t familiar with our policy, tuition is due by the first of each month with an allowed grace period until the 5th. Please take note that any payments received after the 5th must include a $5.00 late fee. If payments are made after the 15th, the late fee doubles to $10.00. Students who make late payments and don’t pay the late fees will not be allowed to participate in class until their account is brought up-to-date. Late fees may be waived in certain unforeseen circumstances as long as the studio is notified. We suggest post dated checks made out for the first of each month. These checks will be held in your account and only deposited on the specific date. This assures that payment will be made on time and you won’t have to pay any late fees. We also accept payments for multiple months or the whole season. Costume deposits: A deposit of $20.00 per costume is required with your October tuition payment. If you have already paid for October, please remit your costume deposit at your next class. Costumes will be chosen over the next 2 months and costume pictures will be shown by the beginning of December.Columbus Day: The studio will be closed on Monday, October 12th. This holiday is included in our tuition plan and classes don’t need to be made up. Costume Fundraiser: Once again I will be offering students an opportunity to offset costume costs by participating in an Avon fundraiser (which is not mandatory). This is a great chance to do some holiday shopping and pay for costumes at the same time. After expenses, all profits will go directly to each student’s account based on their sales total. These profits will cover costume costs and any money left over after the costume is paid for will be applied to the student’s tuition. If you are interested in participating, you MUST sign up for a fundraiser packet as I must purchase books and materials to hand out. A sign up sheet is posted on the studio bulletin board and packets will be handed out beginning Monday, October 26th. There will be a limited number of extra packets available at the studio and if you can’t make it into the studio to sign up, you may call and request a packet at 539-9996. Orders with payment will be due Thursday, November 12th and products will be available for pickup at the studio beginning Wednesday, Nov. 18th. The Pulse: This event is amazing for those students who just love to dance and want to learn from THE BESTChoreographers including Mia Michaels, Brian Friedman, Wade Robson & Shane Sparks, just to name a few. There will be a sign-up sheet for this event which will be held in Atlantic City on January 10 & 11th. Fliers will be available for those who are interested. Halloween Movie Night: All students are invited to attend! Saturday October 24th from 6:00 – 9:00. Admission is $20.00. Bring blankets & pillows – come join the fun and be sure to wear your costume!
